OSHA Injury Reports

This OSHA Injury Report was compiled directly from data that is publicly available from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA Injury Reports can be helpful in understanding the types of workplace injury claims involving defective products or malfunctioning equipment in the workplace. 

The manufacturers of defective equipment or machinery resulting in a worker injury may be found to be negligent and liable for damages in a separate civil lawsuit. You may be able to recover damages on top of a workers’ comp claim if injured in a job accident caused, in part, by a third party. A maintenance employee was shot in the abdomen while trying to break up an argument between a tenant and the apartment manager. He was hospitalized.

Employees were moving a stack of wear bands with an overhead crane. The wear bands fell over and struck an employee. He suffered a left shin laceration and left ankle fracture, as well as right leg laceration and right ankle injury.

An employee was cleaning the oven. She sprayed degreaser and then put the oven in the self-cleaning cycle. When she opened the oven, she was exposed to the fumes inside and experienced lung irritation, requiring hospitalization.

Two employees were using a pressure washer (8500 PSI) to remove paint lines from concrete. One of the employees accidently swept the discharging water across the other employee’s foot. The injured employee suffered lacerations, tendon damage, and a chipped bone on the foot.
