An employee swung a sledge hammer to hit a hammer union. The sledge hammer missed and caused the employee to lose balance and fall approximately 3 feet, hitting his back on a mud pump module and suction pipe. The employee sustained fractures to the L2, L3, and L4 vertebrae.
