On July 18, 2019, two employees were washing down ash in the economizer hopper. The water that was being applied struck a pocket of hot ash, causing it to flash. Ash and steam contacted one employee’s thighs and forearms, and entered his work boots, resulting in burns and hospitalization. The second employee sustained a minor burn to his arm requiring first aid.
