Fractures

An employee was part of a crew installing guardrails on the side of the highway. The employee was knocked down by a concrete truck and the truck ran over his toes. The employee suffered toe fractures that required surgery.

Employees were using a rope puller to load a broken chipper onto a flatbed trailer. When the rope puller was tensioned, the hook broke; the rope and broken hook rebounded, striking an employee. The employee suffered a broken right arm and internal bleeding.

An employee was riding on the side of a front-end loader. It passed a pile of hardened dirt, which caught the employee’s leg. The employee fell to the ground and suffered a broken right tibia.

An employee was unloading a trailer with a pallet jack when she tripped over an empty pallet and fell. Her left foot was struck by the pallet jack wheel resulting in fractures.

An employee was welding a piece of 36″ cutter pipe on a welding table. When the table was moved, the pipe fell onto the employee’s knee, fracturing his tibia. He then fell from his stool and suffered a laceration to the side of his head.

As an employee was repositioning a steel box fan, a can of glue fell into the fan. When the employee attempted to retrieve the can, her right hand contacted the fan blade and her index, middle, and ring fingers were broken and lacerated.

An employee had parked their vehicle in an offsite parking garage on the third level and proceeded to the south stairwell to go down to the shuttle bus on the ground floor. The employee missed a stair and fell, sustaining fractures to the second, third, and fourth metatarsals of the left foot.

An associate was walking through the lawn and garden center and tripped over a grate in the ground and fell resulting in a broken left elbow that required surgery and hospitalization.

An employee was working on drywall trim from a platform about 3 feet above the ground. The platform collapsed and the employee fell, suffering a broken right tibia and fibula.

An employee was walking to his truck to get tools when he slipped in mud while walking down an incline. His right foot became stuck in the mud, resulting in a broken fibula and tibia.
