Professional Experience & Career Highlights
Chad’s legal career began in 1991 at a small firm in Denton, Texas. Shortly thereafter, he joined the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, where he tried his first case as a prosecutor in 1992. He was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1996, having earned the Air Force Commendation Medal (1994) and the Meritorious Service Medal (1996).
After military service, Chad initially represented businesses and insurance companies in civil litigation, including a large nursing home corporation. This experience on both sides of the courtroom provides him with a strategic edge for his clients. In 1999, he shifted his focus to representing victims of nursing home abuse and neglect, becoming a national leader in this specialized area.
In 2003, Chad joined the Texarkana office of Nix, Patterson & Roach, quickly rising to partner and leading the nursing home litigation section. He secured landmark verdicts, including:

- $3 million in Spencer vs. Northport
- $2.3 million in Johnson vs. Beverly
- $2 million in Penny vs. Sun
In 2005, Chad spearheaded an innovative legal motion that compelled a major national nursing home chain to compensate abuse victims before selling the company, protecting clients’ rights and setting a precedent in elder law.
In October 2010, Chad founded The Trammell Law Firm, which merged with renowned trial lawyer Melody Piazza in 2013 to form Trammell Piazza Law Firm. The firm remains intentionally small and family-oriented, focusing on quality, compassionate legal representation. In addition to nursing home abuse cases, the firm handles complex personal injury and business litigation matters, recovering millions for clients.
