OSHA Injury Reports

This OSHA Injury Report was compiled directly from data that is publicly available from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA Injury Reports can be helpful in understanding the types of workplace injury claims involving defective products or malfunctioning equipment in the workplace. 

The manufacturers of defective equipment or machinery resulting in a worker injury may be found to be negligent and liable for damages in a separate civil lawsuit. A small crew of workers was working under reactor prefitting beams. They had the beams rigged with a come-along. After getting it into place, they lost control of the rigging and one of the beams fell on the ground and landed on the worker’s foot.

Employees were removing derricks while unloading a ship. A breasting cable got hung up on a derrick. When the employees pulled the cable, the pressure caused the line to snap. The line struck two of the employees along the right side of their faces.
