OSHA Injury Reports

This OSHA Injury Report was compiled directly from data that is publicly available from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA Injury Reports can be helpful in understanding the types of workplace injury claims involving defective products or malfunctioning equipment in the workplace. 

The manufacturers of defective equipment or machinery resulting in a worker injury may be found to be negligent and liable for damages in a separate civil lawsuit. You may be able to recover damages on top of a workers’ comp claim if injured in a job accident caused, in part, by a third party. An employee servicing a package boiler was on the forks of a forklift, attempting to move pipe. He fell approximately 8 feet off the forks and onto the concrete, suffering a head laceration (that required surgery), a broken left ring finger, three chipped vertebrae, and a potential concussion.

An employee was helping to unload pipe from a trailer. When he attempted to roll the pipe, his left knee was pinned between a pipe stake and a trailer. He pushed the pipe back and dislodged himself. He suffered a deep knee laceration, tendon damage, and a kneecap fracture.
